Strange Relationship (I), 2012
Strange Relationship (II), 2012
These two were taken round the corner from each other – I can’t remember the street name. As far as I know, the two buildings are unrelated, but seemed to me to be in silent partnership – drifting towards disuse and dilapidation.
And both still trying for glam with curtains & shiny tiles. Nice shots.
Thanks, EllaDee. If anything the b&w does them both some favours.
Dear Richard, in the first one, the curtains fascinated me… Extraordinary… Amazing. Thank you, have a nice weekend, love, nia
Thanks, Nia – yes, it’s a strange touch to put the curtains outside. You too!
I am so glad you are continuing with the titles, I love to see the photos, but I also love to find out what titles you have given them. That first shot is really amazing, what is the building, it could be a nightclub, or a theatre, or a brothal. The lack of colour makes me ask so many questions, which is a great thing in an image. The second image made me laugh. We see these everywhere, but rarely do we take the time to think about why they are where they are. 🙂
Ha ha, good – I’ve got a fair few titles to go before I run out of the ones on the albums I own. I’ve got a feeling the first shot is of a nightclub, but there’s no real clue on the doors.
I really like the first one as well 🙂 Those curtains seem to tell a story.
Thanks, Verena. Yes, and one that may not end well 🙂
Preeeecisely. Those are the most interesting stories usually 😉
Love the curtains image. The tones are fabulous, the moment sweet.
Thanks, Deanne. You always seem to spot the ones I’ve spent the most time working on 🙂 – this was about the twentieth shot – it was an extremely windy day and it was a case of waiting and trying to hit the exposure button at the right moment. And then an age (for me) was spent tweaking the brightness and contrast. 🙂 Glad you like it.
Ditto all the above comments about curtains outside. Titles are perfect. In the second image I like how the cash machine seems to be to the side of the sign with the arrows pointing straight down. It almost seems like the sign and machine had a dispute and the cash machine is on it’s way outta there.
Ha ha, that’s brilliant! But also spot-on – it’s not so obvious from the shot, but this space seems totally abandoned – the floor is littered with broken glass, unopened mail etc and everything is unplugged. It looked to me as if the owner had moved out and left the machine.
I just love love the picture… Something from a dream.
Thanks, Barbara, I’m really glad you like it. It’s a strange area to be sure – just round the corner is a massive mural of the Beatles and if you turn the other way there’s a piece of space invader ceramic tile graffiti.
Wow…
Hope to see more then
Good city shots again, although isn’t ‘Strange Relationship” by Darren Hayes?! 🙂
Who’s Darren Hayes?
Former Savage Garden lead singer? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Col15AJMUpM
Thanks, I’ll check it out. 🙂
Dilapidation… hope not! That curtained entrance could lead you into something divine! Love the titling here too.
Olga
Ha, ha, thanks, Olga! Yes, the title could fit almost anything with a couple of images (thanks Prince), but I thought it fit these two best,
