Street Portrait (for and of Nicoletta), 2012
Well, I’d just had a near-miss with a so-so hairdresser – we couldn’t agree on a time for me to have a haircut, so I gave up on the idea. As a result, I was a bit down in the dumps and the camera was playing up too – the a200 doesn’t like overcast days. Bah! And then I spotted Nicoletta coming down the street towards me. Bingo! What style! And she agreed to letting me take her photograph. Thanks so much, Nicoletta! Hope you like your picture.
I like her no nonsense, direct approach to the camera. Also that detail of the colour of the card she’s holding matching with the grey lines of the buildings. Nice symmetry.
Thanks, Deanne. Yes, this was shot no.3 – the first two didn’t come out – the camera went on strike today. I think Nicoletta was getting fed up by this point. The card’s one of my business cards.:)
Camera on strike – yup know that one.
Your business cards – aha – so you’re carrying props with you:)
It’s always good to have props!:)
Great prtrait shot… 🙂
Thanks so much, Drake 🙂 Another great subject.
I really like this one, Richard. I love her face and her proud expression.
Thanks so much. Yes, I agree. Love your work by the way.
Oh, thank you, Richard. 🙂
Nice photo! I love street photography too.
Thanks, Alessandro! Yes, I can see a few familiar faces in your shots – we must work some of the same patches.
I think of all your pictures that I have so like, this one is the best… what character! And you have captured something about her that is somehow sad and yet very brave… maybe I’m seeing too much there, but I just think this pic is sensational.
Thanks so much, Lois! It’s really great to hear the picture’s done something – I can’t tell whether they have any emotional pull when they’re new, because I’m too close to them.
I feel like that with my stories… it’s difficult being objective about yourself. But you are really truly talented.
Thank you so much, Lois. That’s such a nice compliment, coming from you.
Welcome!
Fun shot. The female Keith Richards. Great look.
Thanks, Terry! Yes, I think she’s very cool.
Incredible characters you collect here. Very unique.
Thank you, Sir! I like stylish and interesting (or both) people!
Oh yes, she oozes style and confidence.Fabulous!
Thanks very much, Karen. Yes, I agree – Nicoletta’s sensational.
Another fantastic character shot. This one is really oozing with character.
Thanks so much, Leanne. She was a great model.
Great image! An interesting character, and your photographic eye definitely draws you to them! Nice one, Richard! 🙂
Hey, thanks, Richard! 🙂 I’m afraid I’m running a bit late on the collab front – tomorrow night OK?
No worries! 🙂
Such great attitude in this expression. A really fine shot, Richard.
Thanks so much, Melanie. Yes, Nicoletta was great fun – unfortunately, the other slightly more posed shots didn’t come out.
That’s a great portrait and a fab pose. For some reason I’m reminded of Keith Richards.
Thanks, Stevie. Yes, that’s odd that – you’re the second person to make that comparison.
I am sure Nicoletta loves her picture! I do!
That’s so nice! Thanks, Patti!
Fantastic!
Thanks, Cardinal! She’s great indeed!
¡Fantástico retrato!!
Thanks so much, Manoli! Really glad you like the shot.
A nicely photographed portrait seasoned perfectly with perspective-drenched bokeh.
Thanks very much, John (and for teaching me a new word/ term).
