Just prior to hearing Tim AKA Flame Proof Moth, we joined a press of photographers against the railings at the back of The London Studios (Independent Television’s facilities for the South). Someone shouted, “Paloma”. I took a shot, and later found out I’d taken it of Paloma Faith. I didn’t know her work, so I’ve just Youtubed her. Quite an interesting combination of image and sound.
I have no idea who she is (she probably doesn’t know who I am either), but it’s a nice photo. The fence creates additional distance.
Thanks, Cardinal. I think maybe she’s famous over here. I’ve heard of her, but until tonight had not heard her.
Fantastic hair on that one!
Yes, indeed.
Her voice a bit like Amy Winehouse, but some would say she more pretty than Amy was… 🙂
Great shot… 🙂
Yes, it’s got that rich, smokiness to it. I like her voice, but the production on the songs is horribly compressed to these ears. Thanks Drake! 🙂
‘Upside Down’ is one of her big numbers. Very good. As usual.
FM
Thanks, FM – I’ll have a listen on Youtube.
You wild Papparazzo. 🙂 She is interesting.
🙂
I don’t know who she is (will google), you made me interested by this photo. Very nice.
Great, I’m glad the photograph did something! I don’t really know who she is myself. Thanks very much, Sonali.
Jamás he oído hablar de ella, pero voy a buscar, ya solo por curiosidad jajajajajajaja
Let me know what you think, Manoli!
I will have to look up her name, also. She does look very glamorous! =)
Yes, it’s a very glamorous and kind of vintage look. Quite at odds with the music…
Great portrait – very casual.. Never heard of Paloma?! 😛
Thank you, Sir! Heard of her, but until just before posting this, I’d not heard her – they don’t play her on 6Music. 🙂
Hehe… 6Music is awesome, but not the same since Phill Jupitus left!
I have to agree – as much as I like Shaun Keaveney, Phill and Phil were great to wake up to. 😦
Lots of times it’s just good to shoot first then play around with settings or find out who was your subject.
Yes, I’m coming round to that idea! I got three members of the Russian Olympic team doing just that (they were really nice, but didn’t speak that much English and my Russian is non-existent, so I didn’t get their names. I posted the shot and someone very kindly supplied their names. I love blogging!).
ha ha ha I just found this in a notification column I’ve never seen before! Blogging is fun
Yes, indeed 🙂
Great candid shot. But the Minnie Mouse coat…. I had an embarrassing paparazzi moment at a festival a few weeks ago. Taking a shot of one of the exhibits, I accidentally captured, Adam Liaw of Australian Masterchef & Destination Australia TV series, who stepped in front as I snapped the photo. He looked at me accusingly, and I fled!
Thanks very much, EllaDee. Ha, ha! Brilliant! Did you sell his outraged image to the press?
Haha, no, just included the intended photo of the candid tree stump with him standing next to it in the “all the fun of the festival’ post… With my smartphone only, and no business card, I just don’t have enough credentials.
I don’t know who she is, but I get that she must be famous over there, how wonderful, did you feel like one of the professionals? It can be so cool when that happens.
Ha, ha, thanks, Leanne. No, I kind of felt like I was taking the mickey – it was a bit like being at a jumble sale in terms of elbowing myself a space. There were some big zoom lenses in evidence…
I kind of thought she was very famous, maybe not so much?! Anyway, great capture!
Thanks very much, Cath! Yes, I knew the name (once I’d been prompted by my companion). And I don’t know that many contemporary pop artists. Fickle fame indeed.
Never heard of her (but I’m not really the most up-to-date person when it comes to music or celebrity!!!). Interesting mix of glamour and child-like innocence.
Yes, that mix is pretty potent and then add to that a deep, husky voice – quite an odd marketing proposition. I like her voice, but the sound of the records is horrible to my ears.
