Street Portrait (for and of Barry), 2013
This was taken on a side street, just off New Oxford Street. I’d wandered round there because of a doorway that looked interesting, and spotted Barry on a break. He very kindly agreed to me taking a few shots. I took three and this was the one Barry chose, although he thought he looked a bit too grumpy (and I have to say, he wasn’t). Anyway, thanks very much, Barry. Hope you like your picture.

Thanks very much, John – what a nice thing to say.
I don’t think he looks grumpy. Nice shot.
Thanks very much, Terry. Neither do I – I think there’s a gentle humour in his gaze.
Interesting – I like the juxtaposition of the cigarette and the Paramedic(?).
Barry looks more thoughtful than grumpy, I think.
Yes, I agree. I’m not sure of Barry’s profession. Thanks very much, Karen.
Excellent portrait, Richard. I love the sight line.
Thank you very much, Chris.
Richard, this is great. What a great face. I don’t think he looks grumpy at all. Rather I think a see the beginnings of a smile beneath wonderful eyes of intensity.
Thanks very much, Ashley. Yes, I see that too – again, I think Barry had the measure of me.
Nice shot, Richard. I think he looks rather affable, if you ask me.
Ha, yes – and he was. Thanks very much, Melanie.
Great character and strong portrait! 🙂
Thanks, Richard! 🙂
The collar adds to much to the character of this great shot!
Yes, indeed! Thanks, Elena!
What a great craggy face, love him 🙂
Yes, indeed, Barry has a great face.
That’s a great portrait. Love the tones and the DOF. Something a little bit Oliver Reed about him, which I like
Thanks very much, Stevie. Yes, I can see that.
I don’t think he looks grumpy at all, he looks busy. Another really nice portrait Richard.
Yes, it’s my fault for interrupting him 🙂 Thanks very much, Leanne.
