Street Portrait (for and of Bruno), 2013
Another cold day, so on the streets there was a lot of brisk walking, steam-breathing and hurriedly made plans. Bruno was crossing the road to Neal Street. I spotted him immediately and caught up with him outside a pub. Bruno was great about me taking his portrait. I took two shots and this is my favourite. Thanks very much for stopping, Bruno! And for the words of encouragement. Hope you like your picture.

Really nice portrait. Great expression.
Thanks very much, Jennifer. This was shot number two – often the best for me.
This is such a nice photo. Very personal and expressive.
Thank you very much, Sara. I’m really glad you like it – Bruno was great. I hope he likes the pic.
I like Bruno very much. There is a solid sense of self in his eyes that you captured so well.
Yes, he was very nice about me stopping him – I liked him very much. Thanks very much, George – that’s a great compliment.
Very expressive!
Yes, indeed. Thanks, Cornelia!
Excellent. So straight on, his expression; I love that. I also really like how all the colors work so nicely together in this portrait. The lines of his collar are also just right, too. A very nicely composed shot.
Thanks very much, Melanie. Yes, I loved his collar, well the whole outfit really. Thanks!
I’m liking these close ups you’ve been doing, Richard, and this one is no exception. I like Bruno’s direct gaze. And his name. 🙂
I’m glad you said that, because I think this is the direction I’m going in at the moment 🙂
Very soulful portrait. I like i very much.
Cheers
Charles
Thanks very much, Charles!
I like the way he looks directly at the camera. Very nice pic, Richard.
Yes, he has a great gaze, doesn’t he? Thanks so much, Laura!
Great composition… Big specs are in… 🙂
Thank you, Sir! 🙂 Yes, indeed – hardly get to wear mine
Awww…. Why?
They don’t rest on my nose that well, so no good for photography, and they seem to present a natural target for Jr’s swords, planes, cars and other blunt instruments.
Haha! I can see your problem on both fronts! 😀
Love the glasses and intense confident look!
Yes, both are great aren’t they – Bruno is cool.
I love the name Bruno!
Great compositional contrasts! The rounds of the glasses and buttons, the textures and colors. REally wonderful.
Thanks so much, Elena! That’s a really nice compliment. Thank you.
A really perfect portrait Richard – colours, composition, and character!
Wow! Thanks so much, Cath! That’s very nice to hear.
Great portrait love all the textures in this one and the directness of his gaze… almost challenging. Fab.
Thanks very much, Emily. I hope Bruno likes the shot.
am sure he will love it. I have to say your portraits just get better and better.
Wow, thanks very much, Emily!
Great portrait. He does have a compelling gaze (with lovely subtle catchlights in his eyes).
Thanks so much, Karen.
That face, those eyes have stories to tell! Great capture.
Yes, indeed! Thanks very much, Billimarie!
It’s a nice portrait – well shot.
Thanks very much, Stevie.
He looks out of time some how Richard, very interesting.
Thanks, Leanne – yes, I know what you mean – I think Bruno manages to look out of time and contemporary (the jacket is very now) at the same time – great look.
