Street Portrait (for and of Clair) #1, 2013
Street Portrait (for and of Clair) #2, 2013
I absolutely love Clair’s style. Couldn’t resist including the B&W shot here for obvious reasons. Claire very generously said yes to me taking a few shots of her on Great Queen Street (which seems to be a magnet for the well-dressed and hip at the moment). Thanks very much for letting me interrupt you, Clair! Hope you like your picture.

If you want to see all the street portraits to date in one place, go here: http://tfipmremix.wordpress.com/2012/12/03/london-faces-remix/ – it’s not very up-to-date I’m afraid.
wow, you’ve got a time machine at your disposal? great shots and great style!
Ha, ha, yes. It leaves terrible track marks on the kitchen floor. Thanks very much!
wonderful yet again. A daily pleasure seeing your photographs
Thanks very much, John. Same goes for me – always look forward to seeing yours.
Love these and Claire. She looks like a book girl to me. (I’m a book girl too. 🙂 )
Thanks so much, Ashley. Yes, she does (I’m a book bloke. 🙂 )
Lovely picture. If we didn’t know it, it could have been from the 50’s! Great mood!
Thanks very much, Kathryn. Yes, my time machine is just out of shot 🙂
Great shot. 1950something. I love her whimsical smile.
Thanks so much, Terry. Yes, indeed. Me too.
So many time fabulous travelers in on London. I do love that black and white!
Thanks very much, Karen. Yes, the next post will go further back…
🙂 Another portrait where the subject has the appearance of being their style, not just adopting it for fashion’s sake. I like the way the b&w distorts our preception of time and place 🙂
🙂 Spot on! Ha, ha, thanks very much, EllaDee. Yes, I love distortions…
Great portraits, glad to see both the color and black-and-white.
Thanks so much, Chris. I like to do that – it’s like two different aspects – perhaps I’ve inadvertently done it the wrong way round here.
The b&w looks like photo from the 1940s. Great!
Yes, indeed. Thanks very much, Cornelia!
Nice portraits again, and an interesting character (I did wonder if she was standing outside a Stage Door when I saw the first image.)
Thanks very much, Richard! It does look like that, but no it’s not – I’m not sure what it’s the door to – I’ll check.
She’s a gorgeous Forties Girl. The style is perfect for her. Great discovery here, Richard. I like this one very much.
Yes, indeed – Clair really inhabits her clothes. Thanks very much, George – I’m really glad you like it.
Brilliant shots and fantastic character!!!! I love her expression and I prefer the b&w one. I think that fits better with her costume (something slightly “retro”).
Thanks so much, Santi! Yes, Clair was great – I really like her expression too.
Lovely photos, very well captured… 🙂
Thanks so much, Drake! 🙂
Wow, love everything about Clair! Great style, great smile….and that B&W portrait – GREAT!
Yes, Clair’s great isn’t she? I agree about her smile. There’s a lot being communicated there. Thanks very much, Alex!
Love the b&w, and her outfit too!
Thanks very much, Jennifer! Yes, me too.
The B&W puts her in another era. Color the 90’s, B&W the 50’s.
That’s interesting the thing about the 90s – I don’t remember anyone over here looking like that then. I’d love to see a map of the way fashion moves around the globe.
Most of my past was in black and white. I bought my first SLR and went nuts with color. Then I found B&W and learned to develop and print. It was a different world. I do digoital now and I really, really miss film.
Yes, film was very different. It’s strange that it’s become something rare. It was so commonplace for such a long time.
She looks like a character from a movie in that first image, the shy girl who nobody notices and then she does something evil perhaps.
Great shots. As someone mentioned above, the colour and black and white images feel like they’re from completely different eras. Definitely worth including both.
Thanks very much, Stevie. Yes, I think the colour and B&W do different things and I wanted to show Clair for how she really is.
Clair looks like so much fun! She has a delightful twinkle in her eyes and as for that crooked grin . . . . Great work Richard and Claire!
Yes, she does. She was great – thanks very much, Patti!
Fabulous Richard ! I haven’t been on WP much – great to see your portraits again. Cheers
Wow, hello! Great to hear from you! And thanks very much, Deanne! I really miss obso project.:(
Thanks Richard – Phase II has been delayed due to a hip/shoulder injury and life/work! I’ve really had to stay away from the box (except for the fact that’s how I make my living:) Here’s a bit of shamless self promotion – Ann de Forest wrote about project Obso http://obsolescing.wordpress.com/ Cheers
Ouch! Poor you! Hope the hip/ shoulder improve soon. What a bore for you. Thanks for the link – the article’s great – a very nice summation. I like the way Ann writes too.
This one also looks like a character from an old Chicago gangster movie.
Two great shots! What a wonderful look. I love her smile. The B & W is fab!
Thanks so much, Melanie!
Beautiful.
So full of character, you find such interesting people to photograph. Great shots as always, and I love Clair’s style.
Yes, I really liked Clair. I love her style too. Thanks very much, Cheryl! It’s getting harder to find people to photograph (although during my break from posting I’ve taken a few portraits).
Yes she has great style. I knew you’d probably take a few photos whilst on your break 😀 I’ll be looking forward to seeing them when you return to posting. In the mean time, enjoy your break!
Ha, yes, I’m busy really – can’t stop myself. I’m enjoying not having to do anything with the photos yet though. And drinking lots of wine. 🙂
Ah yes the break allows you more freedom to breathe, and that’s a liberating feeling. Take care and have a great time off! Enjoy 😀
