Street Portrait (for and of Lucy), 2013

So I was stood on the corner of Shorts Gardens and Neal Street, and I’d been there for about ten minutes, watching the ebb and flow of late lunchers, fashionistas and the occasional cheesemonger. I was almost zoning out, but I kept an eye on Lucy, who I’d spotted very early on. She was standing outside what I’m sure used to be a kite shop, and she had been busy for the whole time I’d been there (although, I can’t remember with what). As soon as I thought she was done, I walked over and asked for a portrait. And she said yes! I loved the way she was dressed. But I really love her gaze in this shot. This was the first and best of five. Thanks very much, Lucy! Hope you like your picture.
