– Street Portrait (for and of Geoff), 2014 –
Geoff was enjoying a break on Lincoln’s Inn Fields, when I spotted him and asked if I could take his portrait. He was great about it. This was the first of three shots and is my favourite. I really like Geoff’s directness of gaze. Thanks very much, Geoff! Hope you like your picture.

Great in monochrome! Sensitive and strong
Thanks very much, Chris! Geoff was great to photograph.
so much joy in one photo!
Yes, I think Geoff found the whole thing pretty funny.
Very well captured portrait… 🙂
Thanks very much, Drake!
What a great smile!! You must have said something to make him smile like that. Great capture!
Yes, indeed! I think maybe i look funny when i take shots – i know i often struggle with dials etc and was probably cursing. Geoff was really natural in front of the camera – great to photograph. Thanks very much, Ellen!
While I doubt I’ll ever meet him, your portrait of him makes me feel like I know so much about him (and would want to know him).
Thanks very much, that’s a lovely compliment!
Your work underscores that we are a community. A real presence.
Thanks very much, Chris. That’s great to hear.
🙂
A nice capture. There’s a genuine warmth in Geoff’s eyes; you’ve worked your magic again, Mr G! 🙂
Thanks very much, Richard!
Really love this one. Very relaxed and engaging.
I’m really glad you like it, Chris. Yes, Geoff was as he photographed.
Everytime I see your great portraits it really makes me want to try some more street portraits myself. But then, I’m too chicken to ask people and never have the right lens on the camera anyway … well, one day 🙂
Thanks for the lovely compliment, Lilly. It’s become something like an addiction for me, but at the same time it’s got harder to find people I want to photograph. I’d love to see some street portraits by you, now.
Wow, Geoff looks like someone who’d have stories, really interesting stories. You’ve captured quite a lot here, Richard. I’m sure he’ll like this!
Yes, I wish I’d had time to have a proper chat with him. I’m really glad you think so. I hope Geoff gets to see it.
Love! What a engaging face and portrait! 🙂
Great, thanks very much, Gigi! Geoff was really easy to photograph.
Well done. He looks like a genuine person.
Thanks very much, Jennifer. I think that’s what made me ask him for a portrait.
Great shot – comes across as warm and relaxed
Thanks very much, Stevie – he was.
A wonderful sunny portrait Richard!
Thanks very much, Patti! Yes, and we actually have some sunshine at the moment – it’s been a long time…
Great smile and portrait.
Yes, indeed. Thanks very much, Cardinal.
great portrait Richard – I like the endless range of gray tones
Thanks very much, Katrien. Yes, I think grey gets a bad press – I love it.
This is a brilliant portrait, Richard
Thanks so much, Alison!
Wonderful! What a natural and sunny portrait, Richard!
Thanks so much, Anette!
Hi Richard, this is a great character shot of Geoff.
Hi Cheryl, thanks very much. He was very easy to photograph.
Direct and guileless. Great.
Thanks so much, Elena!
Beautiful face.
He’s filling the frame more than your previous portraits I think, something new?
Yes, indeed.
Kind of…I try to frame the portrait to suit the person. Thanks very much.
I love this street shot – and the B & W feel matches the subject – with his t-shoirt and chain – and even the wall adds to the feel and mood of this man! great shot and two thumbs up to Geoff! 🙂
Thanks very much, Yvette! Yes, I hope Geoff gets to see this – he was great to photograph.
well I have said it before – but I love your work – and as you know, it has inspired me to grab a few street shots – and while I am doing it just for fun – it has enriched my life so much – and recently I caught a shot of guy (Leo) with his 1969 VW bug….
anyhow, have a nice summer _ 🙂
Yes, I know, I love your film – Leo looks so pleased with the VW! Nice captures of the couple in the car too 🙂
thanks!!! (deep bow of thanks to you) –
RG – I also wanted to quickly mention that I just got some footage that is very special to me. It is a man, JC – who was working with a gas truck. And then a lady who started talking to me – well got a shot of her and it all fit in.
I am also studying work topics – and so when I was getting this footage of the truck guy – well I had the chance to ask him this and that – and well, there is such a rippling effect with this kind of stuff – which I am sure you know.
