– Untitled sketch (Paperhouse), 2016 –
The title for this sketch comes from the song by Can. It appears on their 1971 album, Tago Mago. You can hear it here.

Ashley Lily Scarlett and I have a blog together. It’s a conversation in pictures and it’s called Between Scarlett and Guest.

I’ve never heard of that group. Very early 70’s though that’s for sure!
They were great. Loads of interesting bands were/ are influenced by them. Well worth investigating 🙂
I tried to listen but could not access right now – I will try again later – and cool sketch !
Thanks very much, Yvette!
🙂
Excellent picture.
When it comes to Can I remember meeting Holger Czukay in an organic food store when I was living in Cologne 🙂
Thanks so much, Rabirius.
Whenever I think of HC, it makes me smile – What did he buy?
I don’t remember what he bought. It was 10-15 years ago.
Great to discover the human figure.
Thanks! Hope you’re having a good weekend.
Love the subtle creepiness of old man leaning his head against the arch, works really well with the dulled colours and scratches. Keep it up Richard
Thanks very much, Leon – much appreciated. Painting a lot at the mo – are you back in the country?
Yeah I’m back in London now, most likely be several months before I go away anywhere again.
Classic CAN – great image. Bravo.
Mobius! Man, it’s good to hear from you. Thanks so much for the compliment. Yes, I love CAN (I was just given a copy of Landed, which I’d never heard – so good (even without Damo or Malcolm). How’re you doing? Are you on Ello?
Thanks Richard. Never heard of Ello until now. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up.
Great image, the almost hidden figure of a man adds a certain creepiness to it.
Thanks very much, Stevie. Ha, yes, can’t help sliding in to goth sometimes – this reminds me of Bauhaus for some reason.
Subtle and sublime. The tones, mark-making and the tenderness of the figure are lovely.
Thanks so much, Karen for such a lovely compliment.
Beautiful work Richard, so fragile and tonally apt.
Thanks so much, Patti!
Reblogged this on From 1 Blogger 2 Another.
Thanks very much, Douglas!
Amazing work!!
Btw I am a (wannabe) movie critic and I basically post reviews for all films I watch.I am a beginner at this so please drop by my blog if you could spare some time. All feedback is appreciated. Thanks!! 🙂
Thanks very much!
I’ll have a look…
Your heart’s really in these Richard I can tell, love the details you put together, there are so many ways you could read them..
Yes, trying to concentrate a lot of energy into making things/ images at the moment – street photography’s taking a bit of a back seat 🙂 Thanks for such a generous comment, Cath.
Fantastic–and the music was pretty cool as well. I’d not heard of Can before.
Thanks very much, Melissa. Are you on Ello?
No–I had heard of it a couple of years ago, but never jumped on board. I just looked it up and it seems it’s become a type of artist colony?
Yes, it’s a kind of social media for artists, designers, architects, critics etc.
I know well enough to search for the hidden in your images, Richard. I like that so much. And I found him. 🙂
🙂 Thanks tor a lovely compliment, my friend.
Beautifully muted tones, Richard. The hint of a figure in the background could almost be reflected in a dirty piece of glass. You’ve chosen the graffiti tags well, and the colours pull together nicely. Where do you get your inspiration for collages like this?
Thank you, my friend. As I play around with the images, other ones suggest themselves and I kind of try to bring out something new…well, you asked 🙂
It’s very much evolutionary, then, not pre-planned?
Yes, no plans…
No plans is a good way to go! 🙂
Hi Richard, I like this a lot, this is one of my favourites.
Really glad you like it. I really enjoy doing these. Thanks very much, Cheryl.
Great picture, Richard. I love the confusion and the mysterious figure. So glad to hear Can! You can still find their vinyls in Mauerpark, in Berlin.
Thanks very much, Laura. Yes, I love Can! So ahead of their time. I’ve just started buying vinyl again, so will have to have a root around London 🙂
I really like this one – great image!
Thanks very much, Anette! Really glad you like it.
YES. Very Can.
Thanks! Lovely compliment!
