– Street Portrait (for and of Paul Smith), 2017 –
Paul Smith is one of my favourite designers – I’ve been wearing his shirts and jeans for decades and got married in a Paul Smith suit. So, it was fantastic to run into him in Covent Garden, and he was great about me taking a few shots. This is the first and is my favourite. Thanks very much, Paul! Hope you like your picture.

I am a big fan of Paul Smith too – such a legendary tailor – and he has one of those wonderful British rock’n’roll faces which you have captured beautifully…
Thanks very much, SOL! Spot on.
Beautiful portrait, Richard. What an exciting moment for you.
Thanks very much, Jane! Yes, indeed.
Great portrait of an interesting, expressive face

The man oozes style, and you’ve captured him brilliantly, Richard! 🙂
Yes, indeed – thanks very much, Richard!
He is an icon.
Yes, indeed.
Such a great shot!! Not easy to do. I know you didn’t make the wrinkles 😉 but they, plus the hair and the scarf are so visually fascinating, but you made them work!!
Thanks so much, Ellen!
I’m afraid I couldn’t have helped you identify this celebrity so I’m glad you could. I would have imagined that even for a famous tailor he’d be able to walk the streets unrecognised. Another one to add to your list.
Yes, indeed. Not sure how I always recognise people…
Wonderful portrait.
Thanks very much, Chris.
Excellent portrait.
Thanks very much, Rabirius.
Excellent composition. There is a classic Dr. Who quality to the gentleman’s appearance and expression. 🙂
Thanks very much, Joseph.
What a great face! You captured some very gentle eyes, there.

Hi Richard, this is one of my favourites, there’s so much character in his face.
Hi Cheryl, really glad you like the shot. He was really nice – spent quite a bit of time talking to a few people who gathered round his bike.
Lucky you, and what a terrific face he has. Wonderful work!
Thanks very much, Lynn!
Oh super WoW and how lucky for you to shoot this icon. He’s lucky too to be shot by you!

Thanks so much, Ray. Yes, he’s great isn’t he?
That’s cool. Love the story and the photography.

Thanks very much, Karen. Yes, I loved that suit – sadly it will never fit me again – I used to be like a rail and now more like a hot water bottle.
ciao!
