Since May 2012, I have been approaching strangers in the street and asking if I can take their photograph. Thankfully everybody here said yes.

If you are interested in learning a bit of background to any of the shots above, a quick search of TFIPM by the person’s name should bring up the original post. This post is dedicated to George Skeggs, my first street portraitee – without him there would have been no beginning…

What a fantastic set, Richard. Something to be proud of for sure.
Thanks so much, Johnny. It was fun to do.
Quite a few of these are favourites of mine!
Great! Really glad you like them, Katherine!
Faces truly are the best landscape to take photos of …. especially if you know how to do it. Such great shots! Greetings from … no not vienna but berlin for the moment …!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate your comments. Hope you’re having fun in Berlin.
Oh, it’s a great place to be … :o) Thank you!
I always look forward to a new introduction.

My friend, your portraits speak… Seeing them all together, a treasure.
Thanks so much, Marina. What a lovely comment – thank you!
This is a really outstanding collection Richard. Storied and masterfully captured. Poetry.
Thanks very much, Chris for such a lovely comment. Much appreciated.
I feel so fortunate to open my Reader and see one of your portraits Richard! I agree with Chris… this is a “storied” collection. Just wonderful!
That’s so nice to read – thanks very much, Jana!
A superb collection, to be sure. Some I recognized but many I had not seen. Each is memorable and stands the test of time because each is so distinctive. P.S. Becky is a beauty. But each is beautiful in his or her way thanks to your method of capture, Richard!
Thanks so much, Ellen for the lovely compliment. I really enjoy taking these shots, even though I seem to take fewer as time goes on.
How fabulous was THAT? Loved it. Thank you.
Thanks so much – much appreciated!
Looks like a fun project.
Yes, it really is – I’ve been doing it for years now. And it’s always different with each person. But they’ve all been great.

It’s joyful and real I love it! 😀
So good to see your fine portraits together here Richard. Are you going to keep it up? Hope so!
Thanks very much, Patti! Glad you like them. Yes, I will if I can – finding it hard to find people at the moment – I think partly because it’s so cold and there are just fewer people about generally.
Beautiful pictures, and stories waiting to be told.
Thanks very much, Lisa! Glad you like them.
Great set…
…I also remember some of the original posts.
Thanks very much, Rabirius. Much appreciated.

Marvelous collection of portraits, Richard. I do adore the Patti Smith shot, as I think I’ve told you before. You have a way, with all of these, of bringing out wonderful expressions in your subjects. Beautifully done.
Thanks so much, Jane for the lovely compliment.
Reblogged this on From 1 Blogger 2 Another.
Thank you, my friend!

Thanks very much, Douglas! Very much appreciated.
Great post, great work!
Thanks so much, Laura!
Hello Richard, it took me a while to find your blog again. Your avatar link didn’t work for a while and I was unable to find your site as it always said “Blog not found”. Is it just me or you changed the url?
Hi Virginia – yes, I seem to have problems with WP – the url hasn’t changed, but other people have said they can’t see the blog…
Wonderful collection of portraits
Thanks very much, Alison. Hope you’re having a good week.
Yes, thanks Richard.
Your photographs continue to inspire and lift me as they did from the beginning. I hope you keep making them for a very long time.
Thanks so much, Cath! That’s lovely to read – thank you!
And also, I think you should crowdfund a book. I want a book please 🙂
🙂 You’re so nice! Thanks, Cath!
You’re very welcome!! 🙂 It wasn’t just me being nice though, I really would love to see it in print..
Absolutely great! Individual, special, wonderful, funny, strong, fascinating, natural, … every picture tells a different story.
Thanks so much, Anette! So glad you like them.
Hi Richard, this is a fantastic collection of work. I can’t decide whether I like your colour or black and white photography best, as each has its own strength.
Thanks so much, Cheryl. Yes, I think I post more shots in B&W than colour, but some demand to be in colour. Really appreciate your comment.
these are great! such interesting faces, well captured
Thanks very much, Belinda!
Fantastic! I’ve been so remiss at keeping up with my WordPress peeps because it seems all I can do is make my videos and compulsively post on Instagram, where all of my still experiments take place. It’s awesome that you have the courage to take portraits of strangers, and of course awesomely awesome that you are so good at what you do! Very glad to see your recent work, Richard!
Thanks so much, Jennifer. I’ll check out your work on Instagram. Glad you like the shots.
Wow. What a fabulous collection, Richard. So many captivating faces here, with so many stories.
Thanks so much, Lemony. Yes, I love London for that reason.
I love this ongoing project. Beck and Victor are great additions.
Thanks very much, Ray. Really glad you like it.
A marvelous collection.
Thanks very much, Elena.
