Street Portrait (for and of Michaela and Sasha), 2020

It feels like this was taken a lifetime ago, but it was Thursday 6th February. Michaela and Sasha were performing acrobatics in the street. They looked fantastic and they were great about me taking a few shots of them. This is the first and my favourite. Thanks very much Michaela and Sasha!

Michaela’s Instagram can be found here.

If you are interested in seeing more street portraits, there are a lot of them on this blog (just click on the tag in the tag cloud) and some on my Instagram here and a selection on my website here.

About a week ago, I ran into Sophie and Hara. And they were great about me taking a few shots of them (fighting the sunshine). This is the last shot I took and it’s my favourite. Thanks very much Sophie and Hara!

Tree and Shard, 2020
Street Portrait (for and of Timothy Block), 2020

I’ve been very lucky in January – I ran into Timothy Block the day after meeting Rakia. Tim and I had a chat and I took a couple of shots. This is the second portrait and my favourite. Thanks very much Tim!

Tim is an actor and film maker.

Street Portrait (for and of Rakia) #1, 2020

One of the great things about 2020 so far is I seem to have rekindled my interest in photographing people. An even greater thing is that I ran into Rakia yesterday.

We made 8-10 shots together around London Bridge and these are my favourites…

Street Portrait (for and of Rakia) #2, 2020

The photographs work as well in colour as they do in black and white. But I tend to favour the monochrome.

Street Portrait (for and of Jenna), 2018

– Street Portrait (for and of Jenna), 2016 –

It’s been a while since I last took a street portrait. The project, which has been going since 2012, seemed to have ground to a halt…and then I spotted Jenna. And she was great about me taking a few shots. This is the first of four shots and is my favourite. Thanks very much Jenna!

If you are interested in seeing more of my work, I have a new website: https://richardguest.art/ , which includes a print of the month (this month it’s the turn of Into The Light from 2014, which was taken on Hungerford Bridge, London, UK).

Works in progress, street portraits and sneak peeks of finished paintings are all featured on my Instagram feed. I update the feed three times a week, and you can find it here.

If you are interested in learning a bit of background to any of the shots above, a quick search of TFIPM by the person’s name should bring up the original post. This post is dedicated to George Skeggs, my first street portraitee – without him there would have been no beginning…
