Street Portrait (for and of Siena), 2012
Well, this was a bit of a cheat. I took two shots of Sienna without asking her permission. But I reasoned that if I talked to her before taking the shots, I’d lose the composition – she was extremely stylish anyway, but I loved the way her boot was, and the position of her elbow on her thigh. She looked fantastic, so I went ahead and took the shots. And she was great about it! Thanks, Sienna! Hope you like your picture.
She’s a looker. Nice shot.
Indeed! Thanks, Terry.
Nice photo! She has a great expression on her face.
Thanks very much! Yes, indeed. Love your blog by the way.
Very stylish – very Fearne Cotton! 🙂
Yes, indeed – for shame – I don’t know who Fearne Cotton is 🙂
See! You can pull off the classic artists, but I’ve got yoof kulcha under control! 🙂
Brilliant! – that made me laugh out loud 🙂
Tsk… I open my heart up, Mr G, and get laughed at, lol…
🙂
Nice shot, Richard… 🙂
Thank you very much, Drake 🙂
Cheeky shot!
Yes, Siena’s got a great smile, hasn’t she? And I had to take it – the composition was right there – if I’d done anything it would have gone (my excuse and I’m sticking to it).
Such a great shot! I love her look and her expression! What a great face. Nicely composed.
Thanks so much, Melanie! Yes, it’s a great look isn’t it? And she has a beautiful face.
Trusting your instinct – it works!
Thanks very much, Karen – yes, it’s one of the things about taking shots in the street that I love – you’re living in the moment and you know a shot’s working when it feels like instinct (or when you scream in your head “Don’t move!”, ha ha).
Thank you for making me look beautiful Richard. Great photographer!
Hey, Siena! I’m really glad you like your picture! Originally, I spelt your name wrong, so I’ve now corrected that. And I didn’t make you look beautiful, I just took your picture. You were just you 🙂
Absolutely love it! Ahh no worries, it happens a lot. Such a great shot, Thank you!
Great! You’re welcome!
She’s fantastic! 🙂
Yes, indeed!
It seems an age that you posted one of your street photos. She seems really delighted that you were taking her photo.
Yes, I wanted a break from the portraits. I’m really glad Siena was OK with it. Yes, she’s got a great smile.
This is a gorgeous shot Richard! From the half mannequin in the background to the delight of Siena’s twinkling insouciance, all that light in the leather. You make a great team!
Thank you so much, Patti! Yes, the mannequin and the way Siena was sitting were vital to the shot – I was so nervous it wasn’t going to happen (you’ve talked about this with your shots too).
Little pixie! Great shot, Richard! I too like the other feet in the background.
Thanks very much!
Wow! This is a great portrait. She’s stylish, yes! Very glamorous too… and you’ve captured her essence … I also see her innocence and her self-awareness… :))
Thanks so much, MJ! I’m really glad you like it. Siena was great to photograph and it was a lucky moment.
Lovely, cheeky shot, great how her eye peeks out – and love those background feet!
Thanks very much, Cath – it was such a stroke of luck that everything was in the right place at the right time and Siena was so great (and didn’t leap up and shoo me away)!
Great shot and nicely caught expression. It has that more candid feeling that you don’t tend to get from posed shots.
Thanks so much, Stevie. Yes, it was a very lucky moment – I’m going to try a few more semi-candid shots to see what I can capture.
Great picture, there’s something so cheerful about this despite the abundance of black, wonderful contrast.
Thanks so much, LK!
